1. Field Skills Vector Ecology and Health
- Field work survey in malaria endemic areas in Philippines to conduct screening of malaria infected patients using rapid diagnostic test (RDT) kits and Loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP)
- Fieldwork household survey for the collection of mosquitoes in dengue endemic area in Philippines using mosquito UV light trap
2. Molecular Biology Skills
- Adept in basic molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA and RNA extraction, PCR, qPCR, Sanger sequencing etc.).
- Trained on library preparation, quality control and validation for next-generation sequencing (NGS), RNASeq transcriptomics, Double digest restriction-site associated sequencing (ddRAD-seq) amplicon-based sequencing on Illumina MiSeq platform and the long-read sequencing using MinION Oxford Nanopore technology
3. Bioinformatics Data Skills
- Proficient in in data analysis using R program, Arlequin, Structure, GenAlex, DNASp
- Understanding of taxonomic or genomic databases such as GenBank, Vectorbase etc.
- Trained in processing NGS data for transcriptomics study
